MOSCOW, Oct. 28 Michigan Stars defender Yakov Shmelev said, that he had not heard anything bad about Russia from the Americans. The football player was born in Tolyatti. In 2009, he and his mother moved to the United States. Since March of this year, he has been playing in the third strongest American division.
"No one really follows foreign news and certainly does not focus on this in the locker room. Sometimes some news flashes, but I have never heard anything bad about Russia or Russians. Sometimes in the store they ask me where I'm from. I answer: "Russian American". No negative response. People may ask how Russia is doing, but I say that I don’t know anything myself,” Shmelev told Sport-Express.
Shmelev played 23 matches for Michigan. He has one goal and one assist to his credit.
