MOSCOW, 31 Oct. Traffic along the security corridor in the Black Sea has been suspended until the situation with the terrorist attack in Sevastopol is clarified, the Ministry of Defense reported.
"Until the situation around the October 29 terrorist attack against warships and civil courts in the city of Sevastopol, traffic along the security corridor defined by the "Black Sea Initiative" has been suspended", the department said.
They also added that the movement of ships along the security corridor is unacceptable, since Kyiv uses it to conduct hostilities.
The ministry stressed that Russia, as the main participant in these agreements, does not withdraw from them, but suspends them. Moscow brought its position to the attention of the Security Council and UN Secretary General António Guterres. It is noted that the Russian side is counting on the organization's assistance in obtaining guarantees from Kyiv on the non-use of the humanitarian corridor and Ukrainian ports designated for the export of agricultural products for combat operations.
Last Saturday, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that the food deal was suspended indefinitely. The department explained that on October 29, Ukrainian troops, under the cover of a humanitarian corridor created for the export of grain, launched massive attacks on ships and infrastructure of the Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol. and intends to inspect 40 ships that are anchored near Istanbul.
As Russian Ambassador to Turkey Alexei Yerkhov said, Moscow can no longer guarantee the safety of dry cargo ships participating in the grain deal.
The package grain deal consists of two documents, which representatives of Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN signed on July 22 in Istanbul. The first memorandum deals with the UN commitment to remove restrictions on the export of Russian fertilizers and agricultural products to world markets. The second defines the algorithm for the export of Ukrainian grain from the ports in the Black Sea.
