ASHGABAT, Nov 5 The Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan organized on Saturday in Ashgabat, a gala concert in honor of the Russian state holiday — the Day of National Unity.
The performance of the best musical group of the country — the State Symphony Orchestra conducted by Rasul Klychev, as well as the most famous soloists of Ashgabat was organized with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The concert was held at one of the best concert venues in the Turkmen capital — on the stage of the National Music and Drama Theater named after Makhtumkuli.
Russian and Soviet musical classics, Russian folk and popular songs from Soviet films were performed here. Among them are the overture to Glinka's Ruslan and Lyudmila, Tchaikovsky's Waltz of the Flowers from The Nutcracker ballet, the songs Moscow Evenings, Officers, The Beauty Queen and other works popular in Russia and the CIS. The audience not only rewarded the artists with prolonged applause, but also often sang songs with them.
As Yulia Zaitseva, First Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan, representative of Rossotrudnichestvo in Ashgabat, noted in an interview with a correspondent, «this is a gift to the people of Ashgabat and Turkmenistan, to once again show how multifaceted and many-sided Russian culture is, that it is part of the global heritage.»
