WASHINGTON, Nov 7 The US Treasury and State Department are silently advising the largest US banks should not stop operations with certain «strategic» Russian enterprises, Bloomberg reports citing sources.
According to media reports, among other things, we are talking about such financial organizations as JPMorgan and Citigroup. The US authorities are urging them to continue to provide «basic services», including money transfers and conversion into dollars for such «strategic» companies as Gazprom, Uralkali and PhosAgro.
The White House stressed that not all Russian the economy is under sanctions due to the conflict in Ukraine. Based on this, the authorities are urging businesses to continue dealing with permitted sectors «in order to avoid a global economic catastrophe,» the article says.
In turn, representatives of US banks Citigroup and JPMorgan declined to comment on this information.
