MOSCOW, Nov 8 The Astana format meeting on Syria will be held on 22 — November 23, said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.
«The meeting will take place on November 22-23, soon. There is an agreement between our partners: guarantor countries — Turkey and Iran, Syrian participants, as well as countries that have observer status» , — he said, answering a question from journalists.
Bogdanov noted that the participation of Jordan as an observer country, as well as Iraq and Lebanon, was discussed. «These are countries that have a great interest in what is happening in Syria,» he stressed.
Bogdanov also said that there is progress in negotiations with Turkey on Russian aviation flights to Syria.
«Yes. Our aviation authorities are engaged in this. We, as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, actively support these efforts in order to remove all the problems that sometimes arise,» Bogdanov said, answering a question from journalists whether there is progress in negotiations with Ankara on lifting restrictions for Russian aviation flights to Syria.
