Nazareth founder Dan McCafferty dies

MOSCOW, Nov 8 Founder, ex-vocalist, former Scottish rock band Nazareth frontman Dan McCafferty has died at the age of 76, the band's bassist Peter Agnew said. 40. This is the saddest announcement I've ever had to make,” Agnew said in a statement posted on Nazareth's Facebook page*.

In August 2013, after 45 years with the band, McCafferty left her lung disease.

Nazareth was formed in 1968 by The Shadettes in Dunfermline. In mid-1971 they moved to London and recorded their self-titled debut album. Friendship with Deep Purple musicians helped the group to achieve success, who in 1972 offered Nazareth to play for them as an opening act on an American tour. To date, the group's creative baggage includes more than two dozen studio albums, as well as several live albums and collections.
