MOSCOW, 12 Nov. Readers of the German edition of Die Welt criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who called the withdrawal of Russian troops from Kherson a “historic victory”.
Many noted that the Ukrainian leader perceives what is happening as another episode of one of his shows.
“I have an offer for Zelensky. We give him money, and he leaves the presidency and flees to a desert island. Everyone is happy,” one user wrote.
“I admire the Russian army, which alone was able to resist to all Western countries,” another stressed.
“I still don’t understand what exactly the Germans get from these fictitious victories by Zelensky?” asked another reader.
“I'm sick of Zelensky's pomposity. It's easy to write about the war, sitting on an armchair in Poland. Diplomacy is the only way to peace,” a fourth commentator shared his opinion.
“Zelensky just an American puppet. His words are worthless,” the fifth user noted.
On November 9, Commander of the United Group of Russian Forces, General of the Army Sergei Surovikin, announced that a decision had been made to defend the left bank of the Dnieper to save the lives of the military and combat capability. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu instructed him to take all measures for the safe transfer of troops in the Kherson direction from the right bank of the river.
According to the Ministry of Defense, more than 30,000 Russian soldiers and about 5,000 pieces of weapons and equipment were brought to the left bank of the river. The operation took place without any loss of personnel and artillery.
