WASHINGTON Nov 13 US Democratic Party wins 50 seats in Senate and control of the upper house of Congress after the victory of his candidate Catherine Cortez-Mastro in the state of Nevada, CNN predicts.
With 96% of ballots counted, Cortez-Mastro outperforms Republican rival Adam Laxalt by 0.5% — about 5 thousand votes.
The Democrats need half, that is, 50 seats in the Senate to control, since the upper house is headed by Vice President of the Democratic Administration Kamala Harris.
