The Governor offered condolences to the families of the victims and promised to provide all necessary assistance to the victims, including solving housing issues.
The mayor of the Tymovskoye urban district, Eduard Zvada, specified that mourning for those killed in the explosion in a residential building in the village of Tymovskoye on Sakhalin was announced on November 20.
«November 20, 2022 was declared a day of mourning in connection with the tragic events that took place on November 19, 2022 at 6A, Bibliotechnaya street in Tymovskoye,» Zvada wrote on Telegram.
He expressed his condolences to the families and friends of the victims and promised that assistance will be provided to all victims.
Earlier, the Russian Emergencies Ministry reported that, according to preliminary data, domestic gas exploded in a five-story residential building on Sakhalin, floors from the fifth to the first collapsed, people could be under the rubble. The governor of the region, Valery Limarenko, in turn, stated that the incident occurred in the village of Tymovskoye, on Bibliotechnaya Street, 6a. Later, he clarified that the house was not supplied with gas, the causes of the explosion are being investigated. Local authorities named improper storage and operation of domestic gas cylinders as a preliminary cause of the emergency. According to the latest information from the governor, nine people died as a result of the incident, four of them children, one person may remain under the rubble.
