UFA, November 21. Head of Bashkiria Radiy Khabirov proposed to posthumously award a large resident of the Sterlitamak region, who managed to save little twins during a fire, and died himself trying to pull him out of a burning house other children.
On the night of November 18, in the village of Matveevka, Sterlitamak district, a house caught fire, in which two adults and seven children were sleeping. The father managed to save the five-year-old twins, he himself died. According to the authorities, among the dead children – one is native, two are adopted, and two more were taken under guardianship in October from the Ivanovo region. The family was considered prosperous, a fire detector was installed in the house. Investigators called the preliminary cause of the fire a short circuit in the electrical wiring.
“Let's reward him posthumously, he did a heroic deed. It's a pity that he died, the children died. But two boys remained. So that the children would have – that their father gave his life for their lives. I think this should be done. Present it to me, then we will hand it over to our eldest daughter,” Khabirov said at an operational meeting of the government of Bashkiria.
He instructed the head of the Sterlitamak region to keep the fate of the surviving twins under control. “There are two children left, as far as I know, decisions are being made regarding their custody. Therefore, take control. The head of the district, if any additional support measures are needed from us, everything must be done,” Khabirov added.
