This is reported by «Paper» and the Russian service «BBC». cite__image» alt=»1″ />«I refuse to do anything listed in oath.» A mobilized Petersburger does not take up arms even in a military unit
Berezin, a 27-year-old cabinetmaker, was called up at the end of September as part of a «partial mobilization.» He came to the military registration and enlistment office to explain that he had a 69-year-old grandmother on his payroll, he had a statement with him asking for an alternative civilian service.
He was taken to Kamenka near Vyborg, and from there to a military camp near Belgorod. The Petersburger refused to take up arms, which, according to him, the chief of staff Anatoly Smerdov regularly threatened him, including “knocking out his teeth”, hitting him “on the head with a rifle butt and unconsciously stuffing him into a KAMAZ [to Ukraine]”.
At the end of October, Berezin escaped from the camp, came to the Investigative Committee and asked to prosecute commander Smerdov, who had threatened him. Although the verification period expired on November 26, the results of the defense were not reported
For the first time, the court considered Berezin's complaint about the denial of alternative service even before his escape, in mid-October. The court refused to transfer him. On November 29, the St. Petersburg City Court upheld the decision.
After the meeting, Berezin had a panic attack, and a friend took him to the hospital. After the hospital, Berezin went to the military unit on Vasilyevsky Island in the evening. He was seconded to her at the time of checking the application to the UK. From there he was taken to a unit in Kamenka.
Lawyer Nikifor Ivanov noted that, according to the military, they were going to send Berezin from Kamenka to Luga to serve, where he would be given a job «without weapons.» Berezin himself fears that he “will be taken back to Kamenka, sent to Belgorod and killed there.”
