
NEW DELHI, Dec 1 India intends to work with Russia as part of its G20 presidency, Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi said at a briefing on Thursday.
India is taking over the G20 presidency from 1 December. India will chair the G20 for one year, from December 1, 2022 to November 30, 2023. India is expected to host more than 200 G20 meetings across the country during its presidency, starting in December 2022. The G20 summit at the level of heads of state and government is scheduled for September 9 and 10, 2023 in New Delhi.
«I think you would hear this tone from everyone who has generally spoken about the G20, namely that it is important group.It works on the important principle of consensus.And as chairman, our efforts are to achieve consensus, and we tried to do that in the final stages of the summit in Bali, and I think that would be an attempt.I think you heard it from Prime Minister, you heard this from the Minister of Foreign Affairs and other leaders. From this point of view, this is our approach. Russia is a member of the G20. And, therefore, we would expect them to participate in these processes,» Bagci said. when asked about Russia's participation in G20 activities during India's chairmanship of the group.
