MOSCOW, Dec 1 Kyiv may be left without heat and water until spring, if it loses heating for at least a day, said Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko.
«If there is no heating and water for 24 hours with a temperature of minus 5 outside, we will that this could lead to damage to life support systems. We will be forced to drain the water. This means that it will be very difficult to supply water before spring,» Klitschko said during a speech at the Kiev Security Forum.
At the same time, Klitschko noted that the «indestructible points» where residents can warm up and charge their phones are not a panacea and will not be able to save everyone. However, there is still no talk of evacuating the city, the mayor assured, simply because the situation in neighboring regions may not be better.
«Evacuate where? The situation is the same in other cities,» Klitschko said.
Therefore, the mayor once again urged citizens to prepare supplies of technical and drinking water, food, and also consider options for moving out of town.
