The judge of the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow, Oksana Goryunova, appointed Ilya Yashin eight and a half years in prison because of the April stream, during which the politician spoke about the killings of civilians by the Russian military in the Ukrainian city of Bucha. After the expiration of the term of imprisonment, the politician will not be able to use the Internet for four years.
Yashin was found guilty of spreading «fake news» about the Russian military motivated by political, ideological hatred or enmity (paragraph «e» of part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code). The state prosecution requested nine years in a general regime colony for the politician.

According to the prosecution, during a live broadcast on YouTube, the politician spoke about the killing of civilians, although he was «reliably aware» that the photographs of dead people and video materials published after the retreat of the Russian army from the capital of Ukraine were a provocation of the «Kyiv regime» .
“The whole thing is absolutely apocalyptic, you know, like in horror films. Dead bodies with open eyes, with hands tied behind their backs, ”Yashin said during the stream.
Yashin was sent to a pre-trial detention center in mid-July. Shortly before this, his colleague, the municipal deputy of the Krasnoselsky district, Alexei Gorinov, was sentenced to seven years in prison in the same case of «fake» about the army. Later, his sentence was reduced by one month.
