DONETSK, Dec 23 Yasinovataya, Mayorsk, Makeevka, Gorlovka and Golmovsky in the Donetsk People's Republic, firing a total of 25 shells of 152 and 155 mm caliber, the DPR representative office at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues Related to War Crimes of Ukraine (JCCC) reported.
«Shelling was recorded from the side of the VFU (armed formations of Ukraine — ed.) in the following directions: 16.20 — the settlement of Orlovka — the settlement of Makeevka (Kirov district): four shells with a caliber of 155 millimeters were fired; 16.30 — the settlement of Orlovka — the settlement of Makeevka (Chervonogvardeisky district ): fired three shells with a caliber of 155 millimeters … 16.55 — the settlement of Dzerzhinsk — the settlement of Gorlovka (Nikitovsky district): four shells with a caliber of 155 millimeters were fired,» the department said in its Telegram channel.
The mission added that at 15:50 Ukrainian troops fired eight shells of the same caliber at Mayorsk, at 4:00 pm — three shells of the same caliber at Yasinovataya, and at 4:45 pm — three shells at Holmovsky.
Makeevka is a satellite city of Donetsk, adjacent to the capital of the DPR from the northeast.
Gorlovka is located 50 kilometers north of Donetsk, the city is home to the Stirol chemical concern and coal mining enterprises.
Yasinovataya is located about 25 kilometers north of Donetsk and houses the largest railway station in the former USSR.
Artillery with a caliber of 155 millimeters is used by NATO countries. The United States supplied Kyiv with long-range M777 howitzers with a caliber of 155 millimeters, Ukrainian troops are actively using them to shell the cities of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. Also, the Ukrainian troops were supplied with German PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts, Polish Krab self-propelled guns and French CAESAR self-propelled guns using shells of this caliber.
