Rare example of ancient craniotomy found at Armageddon

MOSCOW, Feb. 28 In Israel, on the hill of Megiddo (better known by the ancient Greek name — Armageddon), a rare example of an ancient skull surgery was discovered — perhaps one of the earliest in history. Middle East, writes Arkeonews, citing a publication in the scientific journal PLOS ONE.
In 2016, in the palace in Megiddo (the name of the city of the same name as the hill), several tombs were excavated and the graves of two brothers were found. They lived 3500 years ago — between 1550 and 1450 BC. The results of the analysis of their remains were presented recently.

Bioarchaeologist Rachel Kalisher admitted: at first she thought that her colleagues took the fragment of the skull as a DNA sample. However, this turned out not to be the case.
Earlier it was reported that a snowplow accidentally demolished a monument to Baron Alexander Stieglitz, installed on the forecourt in Peterhof.
