Thai government approves draft agreement on extradition of wanted Russians

The Cabinet of Ministers of Thailand has approved a draft agreement on the extradition of wanted Russians to their homeland. This was told to the local newspaper The Nation by the representative of the government of the country, Rachada Dhnadirek.

The official noted that the agreement is in line with similar extradition treaties concluded between Thailand and other countries. In addition, it does not require parliamentary approval to enter into force.

A year ago, President Vladimir Putin, on the Russian side, approved the government's proposal to conclude an extradition treaty with Thailand. It has not been announced when the agreement will come into force.

According to Al Jazeera, from November 2022 to the end of January 2023, more than 233 thousand Russians entered the largest island of Thailand alone. Some of them moved because of their anti-war position.
