The Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg arrested the former mayor of the city, Yevgeny Roizman, for 14 days under a protocol on the demonstration of extremist symbols (Part 1 of Article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). This was reported by It's My City.
The politician was detained today, March 16, due to a denunciation written against him in December, which referred to a repost to the Yevgeny Roizman group on VKontakte video «Why Putin is imprisoning Navalny.» It contains the logo of the Anti-Corruption Foundation recognized as extremist in Russia. The former mayor of Yekaterinburg himself claims that he has nothing to do with the public named after him.
In November, the Ministry of Justice recognized Yevgeny Roizman as a «foreign agent.» The politician has consistently criticized the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He was fined several times under protocols on «discrediting» the army (Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). At the end of August, a criminal case was opened against Rozman under a similar article (Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code).
