BRUSSELS, Mar 19 EU Head of Diplomacy Josep Borrell, following the negotiations in North Macedonia between Belgrade and Pristina on the implementation of the normalization proposal, admitted that the agreed final version was not as ambitious as it was originally.
After 12-hour talks in Ohrid, the head of European diplomacy announced an agreement between Belgrade and Pristina on the implementation of the normalization proposal.
«I have to admit that initially we proposed a more ambitious and detailed implementation annex, but, unfortunately, the parties could not agree on it,» he said.
According to Borrell, this happened due to the fact that the negotiators were not ready to demonstrate flexibility and adhered to the previously declared principles and «red lines».
«Nevertheless, this agreement will become an integral part of their path to the EU,» Borrell said and promised to immediately begin work on the formal inclusion of the relevant amendments in the documents on the European integration of Serbia and the self-proclaimed Kosovo.
