CHISINAU, May 21. By the end of April, Moldovagaz plans to repay the loan issued by Energocom on the security of the gas transmission system of Moldova, the head of the company Vadim Cheban said in his Telegram channel.
On October 19 last year, with the consent of the Cabinet of Ministers of Moldova, Energocom concluded a loan agreement with Moldovagaz to provide more than $56 million. The loan was secured by a full pledge in favor of Energocom of a 100% share of Moldovagaz in the authorized capital of LLC Moldovatransgaz, together with assets.
JSC «Moldovagaz» has already paid 600 million lei (more than 32 million dollars — ed.) to Energocom from the main body of the loan in the amount of 1.050 billion lei (more than 56 million dollars — ed.). end of April,» Cheban wrote.
In October 2021, the Moldovan authorities agreed with Gazprom to extend the contract for the supply of gas to the republic, subject to an audit of the Moldovagaz debt in 2022. «Gazprom» reported that it reserves the right to completely stop gas supplies to Moldova due to the violation by «Moldovagaz» of the obligation to pay and the terms for concluding an agreement on the settlement of historical debt.
