Slovakia plans to deliver MiG-29 to Ukraine in the coming weeks

BRATISLAVA, Mar 21 Slovakia plans to donate MiG-29 fighter jets Ukraine in the coming weeks, the Slovak portal Teraz.sk reported, citing acting. Prime Minister Eduard Heger.
«Delivery of Slovak fighter jets to Ukraine will take place in the coming weeks. Acting Prime Minister of Slovakia Eduard Heger announced this without additional details,» the report says.
According to the portal, Heger also did not disclose details about what kind of equipment will be provided to Slovakia as compensation for the transfer of fighters to Ukraine.

Last week, the Slovak government announced that it had decided to transfer its MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine. Former Prime Minister of Slovakia, head of the party «Voice — Social Democracy» (Hlas — SD) Peter Pellegrini questioned the legality of this decision. According to Pellegrini, the solution of this issue is beyond the competence of the government, it should have sent an appeal to the Constitutional Court of Slovakia.

Heger insists that the government's decision is in line with the constitution. He also reported that the country would receive compensation for the transfer of MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine, which Slovakia does not use for its own needs. It is planned that the Slovak side will receive 200 million euros through the European Union and also equipment worth 700 million euros from other allies, such as the United States. This, according to Heger, will enhance the country's defense capability.
