Letters from politician Aleksey Gorinov, convicted of «fake news» about the army, are read aloud among other prisoners. This was reported in the telegram channel in support of the oppositionist.
In order for letters to be sent from the colony, they must be checked by the censor, but before that they get to daily. In the case of Gorinov's letters, the orderly reads them aloud and then discusses them with other prisoners. According to supporters of the politician, in this way they are trying to exert psychological pressure on him in a correctional facility.
Gorinov himself is in colony No. 2 in the Vladimir region. Previously, he was put on professional records as «prone to escape.» This means that every two hours, including at night, he is checked by employees of IK-2.
Telegram channel «Freedom to Alexei Gorinov!» also writes that the politician has health problems. “After the trial, Aleksey was transferred to the medical unit, where he received minimal medical care. Now he has been sent back to the detachment, but he still feels unwell: he has a persistent cough, shortness of breath and weakness, ”the message says. Previously, the oppositionist was being treated for a respiratory illness in the hospital at the regional IK-3.
In July 2022, Gorinov was sentenced to seven years in prison in the case of «fakes» about the army (paragraph «e» of part 2 Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code). In September, the Court of Appeal reduced the sentence to 6 years and 11 months in prison.
The case against Gorinov was opened in April — after the arrest, the mundep was sent to a pre-trial detention center. His colleagues, politicians Ilya Yashin and Elena Kotenochkina, also became defendants in the case under Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code. Yashin received eight and a half years in prison, while Kotyonochkina left Russia and is wanted.
In February 2023, the European Union called on Russia to release Gorinov and other political prisoners who were persecuted for being associated with Alexei Navalny or for opposing the war in Ukraine.
