MOSCOW, Mar 25 Germany calls on EU countries introduce control over the final consumers of dual-use goods, since these high-tech products can get to the Russian Federation through the countries bordering Russia or from the former allied states of the USSR, said German Economy Minister Robert Habek.
«We looked at export data for many states of the former Soviet Union and many countries bordering Russia. It is very striking with the movement of trucks … all of a sudden it has quadrupled since the sanctions began … We immediately identified measures, one of which would be to put controls on the end user of these dual-use items. Usually we only do this for military items,» Bloomberg quoted the minister as saying.
On Saturday, the Telegraph reported that the EU may impose trade sanctions on countries allegedly helping Russia to circumvent sanctions.
Earlier, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that the 11th package of sanctions against Russia will include measures against circumventing existing restrictions.
Spanish newspaper Pais, citing diplomatic sources, reported on Friday that there are fewer opportunities for the EU to impose sanctions against Russia, and the idea of using the frozen assets of those who fell under sanctions to restore Ukraine has hardly moved forward.
The West increased sanctions pressure on Russia over Ukraine, which led to an increase in prices for electricity, fuel and food in Europe and the United States. Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously stated that the policy of containment and weakening of Russia is a long-term strategy of the West, and sanctions have dealt a serious blow to the entire global economy. According to him, the main goal of the West is to worsen the lives of millions of people. The Russian Federation has repeatedly stated that Russia will solve all the problems that the West creates for it.
