MOSCOW, Mar 25 Russia takes into account all the wishes expressed Burkina Faso regarding the increase in the combat effectiveness of the armed forces, including the supply of weapons and training of personnel, said the Russian Ambassador to Côte d'Ivoire and part-time in Burkina Faso Alexei Saltykov.
«The Russian side takes into account all the wishes expressed by the Burkina side regarding, first of all, the increase in the combat capability of the armed forces. All this naturally implies the supply of weapons, the training of personnel,» the diplomat said in an interview.
The Ambassador noted that the Russian Federation understands that no state alone can cope with terrorist activity, including Burkina Faso, which is fighting terrorist groups. For this, Saltykov noted, as much coordination of efforts as possible is required.
“We have been adhering to this line for an extremely long time. In 2015, Russian President Vladimir Putin came up with the initiative to create a universal mechanism on a global scale. Therefore, based on these fundamental principles, I think that Moscow should remain in contact with African states. Based on the principle that African problems should be solved by African states, and Russia will assist this process,» he added.
Burkina Faso, located in the Sahel region, is trying to contain the offensive of radical jihadists, which has been ongoing since 2015.
