Roman company Giannini Automobili, with a rich history behind it, has unveiled its own two-seater electric truck and has already launched it for sale at a price of 28 500 euros.
Outside of Italy, few people have heard of Giannini, it was founded in 1920 by the brothers Attilio and Domenico Giannini, today it is mainly engaged in the repair and maintenance of cars, while in the last century it competed with Abarth and made sports and racing cars based on Fiat small cars . Now the company is owned by the Polverelli family, she decided to return Giannini to the production of cars, more precisely, electric vehicles. Back in 1967, Giannini made a prototype of an electric car based on the Fiat 500, but the market was not ready for it then, and today “electric trains” are the main trend of the automotive industry, especially in Europe, because in 2035 the EU authorities intend to completely ban sales of new “hydrocarbon” cars .
The new Giannini model is a small Uso pickup, it belongs to the L7e electric quadricycle class, it does not require modern passive and active safety systems, while the body of the pickup is metal and quite strong. Developed by Uso mainly in Italy by local specialists, so this is not some badge engineering Chinese model, although we would not be surprised if some individual components and assemblies of Giannini Uso are of Chinese origin.
The overall length of the pickup truck is 3170 mm (without a mounted spare wheel), the width is 1615 mm, the height is 1610 mm. The size of the cargo area of the body is 1100 x 750 x 500 mm, the load capacity is 250 kg. For the body, a drawer with a size of 750 x 750 x 170 mm can be ordered. The pickup truck has a small additional trunk in the front. Giannini has not yet shown the interior of the cabin. The equipment includes air conditioning, heated windshields and rear windows, seat upholstery with leatherette or wear-resistant fabric. >The only electric motor in Giannini Uso is located on the rear axle and rotates the rear wheels, there are no all-wheel drive versions. Maximum output — 30 kW (40 hp) and 120 Nm, constant power — 15 kW (20 hp), maximum speed — 90 km/h. The battery capacity is 21 kWh, its full charge is enough for 235 km of the WMTC motorcycle cycle on road tires. On the “toothy” off-road tires, like the car in the photographs, one charge will last only 140 km. The 6.6 kW on-board charger allows you to fully charge the battery in 3 hours. Dimension of road tires — 155/65 R 14, off-road — 165/70 R 14. All wheels are equipped with disc brakes. Suspension — type McPherson «in a circle».
Giannini promises to produce each ordered pickup within 5 months. Warranty — 2 years (4 years for the battery), there will be no problems with maintenance, as Giannini has an extensive network of its own workshops. The price of 28,500 euros, however, seems too high compared to some competitors — for example, the French truck Kilow La Bagnole, which costs only 9999 euros in the basic configuration.
