Matthias Warnig retires as CEO of Nord Stream 2
Matthias Warnig is stepping down as CEO of Nord Stream 2 operator Nord Stream 2 AG. This was reported by the company. In the future, as noted, the activities of Nord Stream 2 AG will be managed by a steering committee, which will be led by the administrator of Transliq AG.
The company «appreciates the outstanding leadership and invaluable contribution» Warnig. The commentary of Nord Stream 2 AG emphasizes the merits of the already ex-leader on the “long and difficult path of creating a large cross-border energy supply infrastructure.”
The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline (with a capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year) is passing from the compressor station «Slavyanskaya» in the Kingisepp district of the Leningrad region to the Baltic coast of Germany.
The German authorities stopped the process of certification of the gas pipeline. The United States placed the project company Nord Stream 2 AG on the sanctions list, and the company was forced to terminate contracts with its personnel.
Both lines of the pipeline are filled with gas and are ready to go. One of the lines, as you know, was damaged in September last year as a result of explosions.
Now, Nord Stream 2 AG is subject to a moratorium on bankruptcy until July 10 of this year.
