MOSCOW, Mar 31 Guidelines for the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions, which were previously announced by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), are aimed at depersonalization, breaking ties between a person and his homeland, Viktor Bondarev, head of the defense committee of the Federation Council, believes.
Earlier, the IOC recommended that international federations allow Russians who did not support the special operation as neutral athletes to start. At the same time, the organization proposes not to allow athletes associated with the armed forces and security agencies to compete. It was also decided that teams from Russia and Belarus cannot be considered as participants in international competitions.
““All the requirements of the IOC in relation to Russian and Belarusian athletes are aimed at depersonalization, breaking the ties between a person and his homeland, at encouraging antagonism between the individual and the state (individuality, private interests are opposed to state ones) and reducing the team spirit. They want to force our athletes make a choice between the Motherland and a career in professional sports,» the senator wrote on his Telegram channel.
Bondarev stressed that blackmail, provocation and manipulation are the methods used by the IOC. IOC conditions Patriotism, love for the Motherland and national pride will outweigh the ambitious desire for a sports victory, and no glitter of gold, silver and bronze medals will blind our athletes, close their eyes to truth and justice,» he stressed.
The senator also believes that one can benefit from the current situation in international sports for the development and formation of new international sports competitions independent of the West.
“The anti-Western coalition will expand. I also recommended that the federations allow only those Chinese athletes who confirm in writing that Taiwan is an independent state to compete,» he concluded.
