The long-suffering American electric car startup Faraday Future announced that on March 29 it launched its first and so far only model — 1065- strong ultra-luxury crossover FF 91.
Faraday Future was founded in 2014 by Chinese entrepreneur Jia Yueting, she showed the prototype of the FF 91 crossover at the beginning of 2017 and intended to put it into production at the end of the same year, but, as happens with 9 out of 10 startups, something went wrong So. Instead of planned work, Faraday Future quickly slipped into survival mode with accompanying internal showdowns and leapfrog of leaders. It wasn't until February last year that Faraday Future showed a pre-production version of the FF 91 with the clear intention of launching it by the fall, but chronic financial starvation again disrupted plans. Last month, the company now run by Xuefeng Cheng (Jia Yueting is director of product and ecosystem) raised an investment of around $135 million, and the long-awaited start of production took place yesterday.

In the photos and in the promotional video dedicated to the launch of the Faraday Future FF 91 in production, no finished cars are visible, Xuefeng Cheng and Jia Yueting posing in front of a welded but unpainted body — all this gave rise to healthy skepticism in the American press. The Faraday Future report does not say how many copies of the FF 91 and when the company wants to release at its plant in Hanford, California, according to previous reports, Faraday Future has only about 400 paid orders for its promising new product.

On April 26, Faraday Future intends to hold a full-fledged presentation of the FF 91, at which it is likely to announce new details, but until even the exact price of the car is known, there is only the opportunity to pre-order from the USA and China (these are the main markets for Faraday Future). The most likely price range is between $150,000 and $200,000.

Faraday Future is touting the FF 91 as an ultra-luxury crossover that «could disrupt traditional luxury brands like Ferrari, Maybach, Rolls-Royce and Bentley.» The overall length of the FF 91 is 5250 mm, the wheelbase is 3200 mm. The three-motor power plant (one motor on the front axle, two on the rear axle) produces a maximum combined power of 1065 hp, acceleration to 60 mph (96.56 km/h) takes 2.3 seconds. The 130 kWh battery allows you to drive 613 km on a single charge on the EPA cycle.

The Faraday Future FF 91 interior is designed for four, in the second row offers royal space and the opportunity to take a nap in chair-beds “with zero gravity”. The standard equipment of the crossover includes 11 screens, including a giant 27-inch “TV” retracting from the ceiling for rear passengers. In our opinion, the closest analogue to the FF 91 is the Lucid Air electric sedan, launched in the fall of 2021. » />
Faraday Future plans to include new, more affordable electric vehicles, but it is not known when they will appear. In general, as the sad experience of the Dutch startup Lightyear showed, the start of production of the first model is a so-so milestone: this company went bankrupt exactly three months after the solemn start of the production of the Lightyear 0 electric liftback.
