MOSCOW, 1 Apr. The flagship store of the domestic retailer Gloria Jeans has opened on Tverskaya, where the three-storey H&M was previously located, the correspondent was convinced.
Later, the company confirmed this, noting that this is not only the largest store in the Gloria Jeans chain, but also the largest operating mono-brand store in Russia. Emphasizing that the new flagship also has a customization zone, entertainment and lounge spaces. And the festive opening will take place on the weekend of April 8-9.
In addition, company representatives said that 25 stores have already been opened in the areas of brands that have left Russia, and the retailer is preparing to open several dozen more.
In early March, it became known that the company won the tender for the opening, despite the «huge competition». It was also specified that it was the largest store of the Swedish retailer in Russia with an area of about 4.7 thousand square meters.
At the end of December, Gloria Jeans announced that it was opening several of its new stores in the areas previously occupied by the H&M chain. Chairman of the board of directors of the company Vladimir Melnikov later emphasized that already in the first days of operation, the outlets showed results above expectations.
Gloria Jeans is a vertically integrated retailer selling clothes. As of December 31, it includes 675 stores in more than 300 Russian cities. The company's revenue in 2022 amounted to 70 billion rubles, an increase of 15%. At the same time, the retailer previously stated that the average area of stores until recently was about 800 square meters, in 2022 this figure increased by 1.5 times — up to 1,200 square meters, and in 2023 — already up to 1,500 square meters.
H&M announced its withdrawal from the Russian market, where it had been operating since 2009, in mid-July. The company temporarily reopened stores of all its brands to sell stock.
