MOSCOW, 31 Mar. A Utah court acquitted Gwyneth Paltrow in a 2016 ski run collision, Variety reports.
A $300,000 civil lawsuit against the Hollywood star has been filed by former eyewear specialist Terry Sanderson. At the same time, the 76-year-old retired optometrist initially wanted to receive compensation in the amount of $3.1 million. He claimed to have broken four ribs and sustained a head injury after Gwyneth crashed into him.
Paltrow countersued for $1 in damages as well as attorney fees. According to the actress, not she, but Sanderson crashed into her from behind. Moreover, at first the film star thought that someone was pestering her — just before the collision, she saw someone else appear between her skis.
The witnesses were resort staff and Gwyneth's children, 18-year-old Apple and 16-year-old Moses. Experts in the field of medicine and skiing were involved to testify during the process.
The course of the proceedings was followed on the Web. Some statements and actions of the participants in the process have become memes. For example, Gwyneth's words that because of the incident she lost half a day of skiing at an expensive resort, went viral. According to her daughter, the actress had to go to the spa for a massage because she was in pain.
At a press conference in 2019, Sanderson stated that he «just heard a hysterical scream … like King Kong in the jungle or something.» During the proceedings, the pensioner apologized for such a comparison of Gwyneth with the famous character.
Users also ridiculed the glasses in which Paltrow came to one of the meetings. In their opinion, the accessory resembled the frame in which the American serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer walked.
Gwyneth is known for the films «Seven», «The Talented Mr. Ripley» and «Shakespeare in Love», for which she won the «Oscar» and «Golden Globe» awards. Marvel fans know the actress for her role as Pepper Potts, Iron Man's lover.
It was previously reported that several women were accused of inappropriate behavior by the ex-husband of model Emily Ratajkowski.
