ASTANA, April 3 President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed Decree on the appointment of Murat Nurtleu as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic, the press service of the head of state reported.
The Kazakh government resigned after the March 19 election of deputies to the Mazhilis (lower house of parliament). Tokayev instructed the old cabinet to perform duties until the formation of a new government. On Thursday, March 30, the head of state signed a decree on the reappointment of Alikhan Smailov, who has headed the Cabinet since January 2022, as prime minister.
«To appoint Nurtleu Murat Abugalievich as Deputy Prime Minister — Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, dismissing the head of the presidential administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan,» the decree says.
Nurtleu has headed the presidential administration since February 1, 2022. Previously, the post of Deputy Prime Minister — Foreign Minister was held by Mukhtar Tleuberdi.
Tokayev appointed Ozhas Bektenov, who had previously headed the country's anti-corruption service since February 2022, as the new head of his administration. E.A. Buketov, worked in the prosecutor's office, including holding the position of deputy prosecutor general, headed departments in the anti-corruption service, and was its chairman. Since February 2022, he has been the Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan.
In addition, by another decree, Tokayev reappointed Ruslan Zhaksylykov as the head of the Ministry of Defense.
Zhaksylykov graduated from the Alma-Ata Higher Combined Arms Command School named after I.S. Konev, Military Academy named after M.V. Frunze (Moscow), Higher Academic Courses of the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. For many years he worked in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including the Commander-in-Chief of the National Guard, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.
