MOSCOW, April 19 The Nureyev ballet has been withdrawn from the Bolshoi Theater's repertoire due to «propaganda of non-traditional values,» Vladimir Urin, general director of the institution, said on Wednesday.
“The play“ Nureyev ”was removed from the repertoire in connection with the signed law, which is called“ Media Changes ”and so on, where issues related to the promotion of non-traditional values are absolutely unequivocally stipulated,” Urin said at a press conference , answering the question whether the audience will see the performance next season.
He noted that the production was removed from the repertoire as soon as the normative act was signed.
Vladimir Putin signed a package of laws banning LGBT propaganda, gender reassignment and pedophilia in December 2022. Violation of the ban threatens with a fine of up to 10 million rubles.
