MOSCOW, April 20 The Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) is becoming the largest continental festival center, said program director Ivan Kudryavtsev.
“I think that the Moscow International Film Festival is becoming such a major continental festival center that will “marry” completely different parts of the cinematic world with each other, probably making such an amazing unique gift to our viewers,” Kudryavtsev said before the opening ceremony of the film festival.
According to him, thanks to the MIFF, the Russian audience will be the first among the inhabitants of other countries to understand how diverse the cinematography of the whole world is. He will be able to see and appreciate the big picture, and not just those familiar countries whose films he has watched all these decades.
The program director of the film festival also announced the start of preparations for the 46th MIFF. Next year it is planned to further expand the geography of the film festival.
«We are already preparing the 46th edition, and we started preparing it even before the opening ceremony took place. We are expanding our contact lists, we are building bridges with those markets that our distributors may not have explored so willingly , because they were too focused on the West, on Europe, on Hollywood. Now we have to open some new addresses,» Kudryavtsev concluded.
