SARATOV, Apr 23 Police have established the involvement of two schoolchildren in damaging tombstones at a cemetery in the city of Balashov, Saratov Region, according to the telegram channel of the regional head office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the police, on Sunday morning the cemetery watchman reported damage to the tombstones.
«The involvement of two minors aged 12 and 13 in the commission of this offense was established, who explained that they overturned the funeral stelae out of hooligan motives … Administrative protocols were drawn up against the parents under Article 5.35 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation,» the message says.
The administration of the Balashovsky district in its telegram channel specifies that on Sunday night, on the eve of the Orthodox holiday Krasnaya Gorka, an act of vandalism was committed at the old Vetlyansky cemetery. «The attackers desecrated and destroyed more than 50 tombstones. Relatives of the deceased wrote a statement to the police,» the message says.
