MOSCOW, 25 Apr. The EU and Japan opposed the idea proposed by the United States to the G7 countries to completely ban exports to Russia, the Financial Times reported, citing sources.
According to two sources, the idea was put forward by Washington against the backdrop of its «growing dissatisfaction» with the current system, which is «replete with loopholes.»
At the same time, three informed sources of the publication said that representatives of Japan and the European Union called the move «impossible.» «From our point of view, this is simply not feasible,» one of the officials said on condition of anonymity.
Earlier, the Kyodo news agency, citing sources in the Japanese government, reported that the G7 countries were considering imposing a ban on exports to Russia almost for all goods. According to Bloomberg, the idea is to switch to a sanctions regime, when all exports are prohibited by default and lists of exceptions are formed that are allowed for imports.
As Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted, the export ban in the country of almost all goods will hit the global economy, this may lead to an increase in the trends of the crisis in the world.
