Historian George Liebman offered his own version to end the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, to complete the SVO, Russia must be given what it wants.
“The key to resolving the situation is the question of what any reasonable Russian government wants — whether it be tsarist, democratic, communist or authoritarian. The answer is that it would like what the Soviet Union was actually promised at Yalta and San Francisco: the role of one of the world's five gendarmes,” Liebman wrote in The American Conservative.
At the same time, the historian believes that in order to resolve the conflict, it is necessary to lift all sanctions on imports, with the only exception being military imports. Such measures have already shown their inefficiency in North Korea and Iran.
