MOSCOW, April 28 An educational program on the design of unmanned aerial vehicles will appear at the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys (MISiS), such a program appeared from — due to the growing market demand for drones and the simultaneous lack of specialized specialists, the salary of such a specialist ranges from 80 to 140 thousand rubles, the press service of the university reported.
«The University of Science and Technology MISiS will start training specialists in the field of industrial design of unmanned aerial vehicles this year. The corresponding direction «Design of unmanned vehicles» will open in the master's program «Industrial Design and Engineering». The decision to include it in the educational process is due to the increased market demand for such devices in the absence of specialized specialists. The starting salary of a specialist is from 80,000 to 140,000 rubles,» the report says.
The university noted that the subjects of the initial development of undergraduates will be small drones for autonomous monitoring of tunnels and subways, cleaning and repairing the inner diameter of pipelines, maintenance of conveyor lines in production shops , contactless delivery of goods indoors.
«The formation of a new profession is becoming obvious -» a specialist in flying robotic platforms «. Unlike an external pilot who controls a drone, he programs, makes changes to the device (integrates sensors, sensors, manipulators, cameras, etc.), works with iron, upgrades the drone into a flying robot, into the «smart» side in a combination of «software + hardware», — the words of the director of educational programs of the Gaskar group (an industrial partner of the educational program of NUST MISIS, from which the first tasks will be sent to students) Tatyana Karpova are quoted in the message.
Elena Panteleeva, head of the master's program, development director of the National Center for Industrial Design 2050.LAB, noted that today many universities «teach students how to design and control unmanned vehicles, without paying special attention to industrial design.»
“However, with the increase in tasks and the expansion of the functionality of drones, the demand for narrowly focused specialists is increasing. My partners and I decided to fill this gap and start training personnel who are guaranteed to be in demand by the market,” she said.
The press service of the university also reported that from the next academic year, the master's program will include the tracks «Industrial Design and Engineering» (4 semesters), and «Technological Processes in Design» (2 semesters), which prepare industrial designers, but with different specializations.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting on unmanned aerial vehicles, said that the development of unmanned aerial vehicles would be one of the key areas for the development of Russia, and also supported the idea of teaching schoolchildren how to operate and design unmanned aerial vehicles.
