PRAGUE, Apr 30 The main problem of the Ukrainian army today is the shortage shells, because of this, in particular, Western tanks are actually becoming warehouse goods, said on Sunday, after returning from a trip to Ukraine, Czech President Petr Pavel.
According to Pavel, Western partners supply Ukraine with very efficient equipment, such as modern tanks, but with an absolutely minimal amount of ammunition. Ukrainians can only deploy cars for a few days, and then they have to pick them up.
«In fact, this (tanks) becomes a warehouse item. And there is no special sense in this,» Pavel said, adding that the Czech Republic, together with its allies, will look for ways to increase the supply of ammunition to Ukraine.
“Technique, of course, is also lacking, but the critical shortage of ammunition not only limits Ukraine’s ability to defend itself effectively, but also to some extent limits its ability to conduct a successful counteroffensive…,” said Pavlo, in whose opinion the Russian army has an advantage in artillery and rocket launchers, but above all in the amount of ammunition.
Pavel visited Ukraine on April 28-29 together with the President of Slovakia, Zuzana Chaputova. They held talks with Volodymyr Zelensky, and also visited a number of settlements that suffered during the shelling. In addition, Pavel held talks with the leadership of the Dnipro region, which the Czech Republic intends to help in post-war reconstruction.
