Hollywood is on the verge of the biggest writers' strike, media writes

MOSCOW, May 1. Hollywood film studios are on the cusp of the biggest writers' strike in 15 years as contracts between writers and studios are coming to an end, Bloomberg reports.
“Hollywood is on the cusp of its first major strike in 15 years. The Writers Guild of America contract with Hollywood studios expires May 1st,” the agency notes.
Over the past few weeks, the two sides have been in and out of negotiations, according to Bloomberg. Among the reasons for the strikes, the agency cites the level of wages, the struggle for copyright and working conditions, including when working with streaming services such as Netflix.

“Streaming services order fewer episodes per season, preferring to average around 10 episodes… This generally means that there are fewer writers working on each show, and those who write make less money … The average minimum wage for screenwriters is not rising in line with episode budgets,” the agency said.

According to Bloomberg, the impact of the strike on film production will depend on its duration. But if the strikes are long, then the film companies will not be able to prepare the show for the fall.
