MOSCOW, May 1. Railway communication in the Bryansk region in the Unecha direction, where a locomotive and seven cars of a freight train derailed, will be restored by morning, Governor Alexander Bogomaz said.
Earlier, the governor said that an explosive device went off on the railway tracks in the Unechsky district, a locomotive derailed, and no one was injured. According to Russian Railways, seven wagons of a freight train left with the locomotive. Of these, four wagons were with oil products, three more with construction cargo. As a result of the gathering, the locomotive and two tanks caught fire. Russian Railways also reported that traffic on the Unecha — Rassukha section was suspended, and passenger trains could be delayed.
«Thanks to the well-coordinated and qualified actions of the rescuers, the fire was completely contained… By morning, the railway communication in the Unecha direction will be restored,» Bogomaz said in his telegram channel.
The governor went to the scene in Unecha, where an operational headquarters was organized. It is noted that Vadim Uvarkin, head of the main department of the Russian Emergencies Ministry for the Bryansk region, and Marat Shaydullin, deputy head of the Moscow Railway, took part in the work of the headquarters. Bogomaz stressed that thanks to the well-coordinated and qualified actions of the rescuers, the fire was completely contained.
In addition, it is reported that additional bus routes have been organized to provide transport links to deliver passengers from Unecha to the Pochep railway station. Buses will depart according to the following schedule: at 19.00, 20.00, 00.00 — from the Unecha station to the Pochep station. Electric trains will run from Pochep to Bryansk and from Bryansk to Pochep. Bus routes from Pochep will also take passengers to Unecha. Buses will depart from Pochep station at 20.00, 21.00, 01.00.
