MOSCOW, May 2. Russian cosmonauts Sergei Prokopyev and Dmitry Petelin will perform a spacewalk on the night of May 4, Roscosmos reported.
«From April 29 to May 1, according to the flight program of the Russian segment of the station, the following was completed: preparation for a spacewalk (VKD-57) according to the Russian program, scheduled on the night of May 3 to 4,» the report says.< br />
The astronauts checked how various hydraulic systems and docking systems with the board of the Orlan-MKS suits No. 4 and No. 5 function, as well as made sure that the spacesuits were airtight and that communications were available. In addition, the cosmonauts replaced the BK-3M oxygen cylinder in the Poisk small research module, installed lamps, power supplies, and TV cameras on spacesuit helmets.
The launch, originally scheduled for April 26, was moved to the beginning of May for a more detailed study of the tasks.
In the course of their work in open space, Prokopyev and Petelin will move the airlock from the Rassvet module to the Nauka Multifunctional Laboratory Module (MLM) using the ERA manipulator arm. Another Russian, Andrei Fedyaev, will remain inside the station and control the manipulator.
