MOSCOW, May 5. The Kalashnikov Concern has begun serial production of Elbrus-T titanium helmets with increased resistance to fragments, the concern's press service reported.
JSC Research Institute of Steel (part of Kalashnikov) has begun mass production of Elbrus-T titanium armored helmets. A titanium helmet has a number of advantages over fully composite helmets. One of them is higher resistance to natural fragments with sharp cutting edges (fragments of hand grenades, VOG grenade launchers, mines, high-explosive fragmentation shells),» the Kalashnikov said.
They added that the new helmets are adapted to the protection level Br2 of the new Russian GOST R 57560-2017. At the same time, the titanium helmet surpasses its competitors in terms of performance.
The concern noted that the existing production facilities and well-established supply chains will reduce the production cycle of this helmet to 3 months.
