According to the Shot Telegram channel, Alexei Smolyaninov, a Russian sports journalist, director of documentaries, and author of the Unseen Football Youtube channel, was detained in Cairo.
In Egypt, he was filming his new work about local football clubs and fans. On Thursday, he was supposed to return to Moscow, but he never got on the plane. At the same time, Alexei's belongings remained at the hotel.
Later, Smolyaninov's friends found out that he had been detained by the police. He faces deportation from Egypt. So far, there is no information about what claims the Egyptian authorities have against the journalist.
