In Hong Kong, local authorities will distribute consumer vouchers worth 30 billion Hong Kong dollars ($3.8 billion) for 2023 to residents, according to the Telegram channel of the Russian-Asian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, citing Hong Kong media.
Hong Kong authorities have begun distributing consumer vouchers HKD 3,000 to residents in April, with plans to distribute another HK$ 2,000 soon.
The city expects these to be a major boost to Hong Kong's struggling retail sector.
< p>In the immediate aftermath of the voucher giveaway in April, retail sales in the city were reported to be HK$34.7 billion, up 15% year-on-year.
About 7.3 visitors visited Hong Kong since the coronavirus lockdown was lifted million tourists in the first quarter, while for the whole of 2022 there were about 600 thousand.
