US wants to allocate $37 million to Ukraine for cybersecurity

WASHINGTON Jun 5 Congress is considering allocating about $37 million in additional cybersecurity assistance to Ukraine, the State Department said on Monday on the occasion of the next round of dialogue between the two countries on this issue.
A new meeting on cybersecurity with the participation of representatives of the United States and Ukraine, as informed by the State Department, was held on June 1 in Tallinn.

«As part of this effort, the United States is working with Congress to provide additional $37 million in cybersecurity assistance to Ukraine, bringing the total to $82 million from February 2022 and more than $120 million from 2016» , — follows from the widespread statement of the American diplomatic department.

According to the State Department, support of this kind helps Kiev «better detect, contain and respond to cyber threats and related incidents,» as well as better protect its critical infrastructure from such encroachments.
Earlier, Russia sent a note to NATO countries over arms supplies to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any cargo that contains weapons for Ukraine will become a legitimate target for Russia. The Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation stated that the NATO countries are «playing with fire» by supplying weapons to Ukraine. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov noted that pumping Ukraine with weapons from the West does not contribute to the success of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations and will have a negative effect. Lavrov stated that the United States and NATO are directly involved in the conflict in Ukraine, «including not only the supply of weapons, but also the training of personnel … on the territory of Great Britain, Germany, Italy, and other countries.»
