Alexander Khakonov, a former LDPR deputy from the Taseevsky District Council of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, who killed his wife, escaped punishment, as he left to fight in Ukraine as part of the Wagner PMC, NGS24.RU and TVK write, citing unnamed sources.
According to the verdict dated July 6, 2022, published on the website of the Taseevsky District Court, 52-year-old Alexander Khakonov was sentenced to 9 years and 8 months in a strict regime colony in the case of the murder of his 35-year-old wife (Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code ). The ex-deputy tried to appeal the verdict twice, but it was upheld, the prosecutor's office of the Krasnoyarsk Territory reported today.
The court materials say that on March 28, 2022, Khakonov was drinking with his wife in the stoker room of his house, a verbal conflict occurred between them. Khakonov hit his wife 19 times in the face, neck, arms and legs, causing her to fall to the floor, although she “did not commit any illegal acts,” the verdict says. After that, Khakonov took a kitchen knife from the floor and «inflicted two blows on his wife with the tip of the blade in the front surface of the chest on the left.»
The former deputy himself said at the court session that he “offered his wife to have sexual intercourse with him, which she refused and began to humiliate him like a man.” As a result, he began to beat her, stabbed her, and then «got scared and went into the hall.» After some time, he returned to the boiler room, took the woman's body, put it in the trunk of the car and drove towards the landfill, where he threw away the knife.
After driving a little further, Khakanov pulled the body out of the trunk, covered it with branches and construction debris, and threw away his wife's phone. The ex-deputy burned the clothes in which he killed his wife. The next day, he went to the police and told «about the disappearance of his wife.»
As the prosecutor's office of the Krasnoyarsk Territory clarifies, in complaints about the verdict, Khakanov justified his act with «an affect caused by a serious insult from his wife» and «a serious humiliation, because of which he did not control his behavior.»
An NGS24.RU source explained that Khakonov joined the Wagner PMC in a pre-trial detention center. He has been under arrest since April 4 last year.
In June, the EAN reported that Ilya Chizh, a deputy from the municipality of Alapaevskoye in the Sverdlovsk region, left to fight as part of the Wagner PMC after the court sentenced him to 2 years in prison in the case of causing grievous bodily harm with the use of weapons (point «h» of part 2 of article 111 of the Criminal Code). According to the publication, the deputy did not come to the verdict and was put on the wanted list.
Marina Kanatova, a senior assistant to the Sverdlovsk prosecutor, told EAN that on April 20, 2022 in Alapaevsk, «a young man saw a car driven by Chizh and simulated a car hitting his leg.» The deputy got out of the car with a bat in his hands and hit the man twice, including on the head. His cousin stood up for the young man, whom Chizh also beat with a bat.
