MOSCOW, June 6 Tourist flow to rural areas in Russia will grow by more than 60 percent by 2025 and amount to five million people a year, the income from this type of recreation can reach 100-120 billion rubles a year, the press service of the Russian Agricultural Bank said.
«Positive experience in the development of ecological tourism will be extended to even larger areas of the country,» the bank added.
At the same time, they calculated that the income from ecotourism in rural areas in Russia could reach 100-120 billion rubles a year and amount to 1.7-2.2 percent of agricultural profits. «In the long term, the amount of income may approach 150 billion rubles,» Rosselkhozbank expects.
They believe that the Vologda, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Novgorod and Arkhangelsk regions, as well as Yakutia, Udmurtia, Kalmykia, Bashkortostan, Altai and Krasnodar Territories, and the Far East are of considerable interest from the point of view of ecological recreation. «These are territories where even now a tourist can come into contact with almost pristine nature,» experts said.
Rosselkhozbank believes that the growth of rural and nature tourism will become a driver for the development of glampings (living in nature with increased comfort). According to the bank's experts, up to 10 percent of ecotourists will rest there.
«According to the results of the first quarter of 2023, there are more than 400 glamping sites in Russia, 60 percent of which are year-round, 40 percent are seasonal. The development of the glamping industry is now proceeding at a faster pace, by 2025 more than 600 such objects will be commissioned in Russia , taking into account inflation in the long term, income from this type of tourism will exceed 7 billion rubles a year,» the bank concluded.
