WASHINGTON Jun 7 US intends to launch this summer satellites to track Russian and Chinese spacecraft that could potentially pose a threat to US orbital objects, reports Bloomberg.
«The US Space Force intends to launch a constellation of satellites this summer to track Chinese or Russian spacecraft that could potentially disable or damage orbiting facilities,» the agency said.
It is noted that the project is being developed by space forces together with the National Directorate of Military Space Intelligence. The initiative will be called Silent Barker.
The launch of a group of satellites is planned «after July» using the carrier rocket Atlas V. The satellites will rotate in orbit at a distance of 35.4 thousand kilometers from the Earth.
