MOSCOW, June 9 Polish expert, ex — Commander of the Polish Land Forces, General Waldemar Skrzypchak, in an interview with Ukrinform, said that Ukraine would receive F-16 fighters in 2-3 months, while the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine should be carried out on existing equipment.
«The training of Ukrainian pilots (on the F-16 — ed.) has been going on for a long time. I think that Ukraine is at a stage when Ukrainian pilots are almost ready to use the F-16 in combat. In my opinion, in two to three months Ukraine will have F-16 aircraft, since Ukrainian pilots are no doubt already ready to operate them,» Skshipchak said.
He noted that the Ukrainian army is ready to carry out an offensive on the existing equipment, he mentioned the MiG-29 as an example. At the same time, he focused on the fact that before the NATO summit, «something should happen that will show that Ukraine is worthy of trust.» The time has come for the Ukrainian army to prove that it is capable of «defeating part of the Russian army,» and whether NATO will continue to support Ukraine in a consolidated manner, Skshipchak concluded.
Earlier, at a press conference within the framework of the second summit of the European Political Community in Chisinau, Volodymyr Zelensky said that a large number of countries were ready to provide Kyiv with fighter jets. According to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, the delays in the delivery of F-16 fighter jets to Kyiv are due to complex technical processes that the military is working on.
Earlier, Russia sent a note to NATO countries because of arms supplies to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any cargo that contains weapons for Ukraine will become a legitimate target for Russia. The Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation stated that the NATO countries are «playing with fire» by supplying weapons to Ukraine. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov noted that pumping Ukraine with weapons from the West does not contribute to the success of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations and will have a negative effect.
