
VOLGOGRAD, June 9 A high alert regime has been introduced in four districts of the Volgograd region due to a locust invasion, the regional administration reports on its Telegram channel.
«Preventive measures are being taken in the Volgograd region to effectively combat locusts. Among the key ones are: continuous monitoring; the introduction of a high-alert mode to coordinate the actions of all relevant services, attracting the necessary number of forces and means,» the report says.
The regime has been introduced in Bykovsky, Pallasovsky, Staropoltavsky and Sredneakhtubinsky districts, about 3 thousand hectares have already been treated for pests.
It is noted that there is no threat to food security in the region, outbreaks have been identified in an area not exceeding 0.08% of the total agricultural land.
